WHITE STONE—The White Stone Town Council decided last Thursday to move forward with the purchase of property in the commercial area of town.
Following a closed session, council voted unanimously, 5-0, to purchase a .46 acre corner parcel at the intersection of Rappahannock and Chesapeake drives. Council additionally voted to direct Mayor Randy Reeves and town manager Patrick Frere to investigate with local banks establishing a line of credit up to $250,000 for use with the downtown revitalization project, including the acquisition of the property at 543 Rappahannock Drive.
Previously, council had discussed using the parcel for public parking. There was no discussion following the closed session.
William Hubbard made both motions with Hubbard, AnnGardner Eubank, Irving Brittingham, Ran Reeves and Kathryn “Scotty” Roop voting in favor.
Members of the management and facade committees for the business district revitalization project were due to get a first look this week at architect Robin Mae Schick’s concept….
