
HEATHSVILLE—William Earl “Buddy” Embrey, 85, of Heathsville passed away on January 14, 2026, at his home.
He was born on November 8, 1940, in Fauquier County, a son of the late Ashby Earl “Bud” Embrey and Hazel Ernestine Messick Embrey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Della Chapman Embrey; and his son, William Jefferies “Jeff” Embrey.
Buddy served in the National Guard from 1961 until 1965. He was successful in various retail businesses during his lifetime in Fauquier and Northumberland counties. He had served as a director on the Midland Christian Academy Board and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Reedville, where he served as trustee and finance chairman.
He is survived by his son, Michael Todd Embrey and his wife, Becky of Catlett; stepsons, Sam Frazier, Remington and Ricky Frazier of Sumerduck; his sister, Betty Embrey Hickey of Richmond; grandchildren, Jeffery (Amanda) and John Embrey and Sarah Embrey; one great-grandson, Greyson Embrey; and his niece, Elizabeth Trekas of Richmond.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 23, at Midland Church of the Brethren Cemetery, 10434 Old Carolina Road, Midland, VA 22728.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, PO Box 77, 454 Main St., Reedville, VA 22539; or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
