William Orvin Cockrell

LAKE WALES, FLA.—William Orvin Cockrell, 94, of Lake Wales, Fla., passed away Friday, April 30, 2021, at AdventHealth, Lake Wales.

He was born September 26, 1926, in Beverlyville to the late Orvin Dewey and Mary Robinson Cockrell. He moved to Lake Wales in 1974.

Orvin was a retired business owner in the ice and seafood business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served in World War II. After retirement, he managed College Park for Warner University. He was a member of South Lake Wales Church of God and loved to fly airplanes.

Orvin was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Cockrell, in 2008; brother, Edward Dewey Cockrell Sr.; and sister, Mary Phyllis Dameron.

He is survived by his sons, Orvin “Raymond” Cockrell Sr. of Burgess and Dennis “Dean” Cockrell of Caret; sister, Cynthia Cockrell Braun of Burgess; grandchildren, Orvin Raymond Cockrell Jr. and William Brandon Cockrell; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Rose Cockrell, William Bryce Cockrell, Brandon Chadwich Cockrell and Robert Chase Cockrell.
