REEDVILLE—Willis Carroll Craig, 66, was suddenly called home to be with the Lord from his home in Reedville on April 28, 2021. He was born on May 25, 1954, in Sunnybank and lived in Northern Virginia and Reedville.
Carroll was proceeded in death by his parents, Willis and Virginia Williams Craig; and his first wife, Vial Trusselle.
Carroll is survived by his wife, Roberta Craig; five children, Nathan Crouch, Rachel Barrett (Jason), Ethan Crouch (Meg), Tina Shackleford (Ryan) and Josh Nicholson (Erin); four grandchildren, Tyler and Ashlyn Barrett, Cyril Crouch and Macey Shackleford; his brothers Dale (Melody), Wayne (Sharon) and Chris (Evvie); and extended family and friends.
Carroll graduated from the University of Richmond on a football scholarship where he played defensive end. He retired as a teacher from Fairfax County where he taught physical education, driver’s ed and coached football.
Carroll enjoyed fishing in the bay and at Nags Head, N.C.; was an avid golfer playing with friends at King Carter and Hobbs Hole; and was a master gardener feeding many friends and family.
Carroll faithfully served his Lord and Savior at Tibitha Church of God.
The family received friends and family from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 3, at Currie Funeral Home followed by interment at Roseland Cemetery, Reedville. A reception followed interment at Tibitha Church of God, Reedville.
