LANCASTER—Assistant Lancaster County administrator John Bateman on Thursday, July 31, presented an update on new park projects.

Phase 1 of the Windmill Point project—the new fishing pier and expanded Westland Beach— is 95% complete, said Bateman.
The remaining work for this phase involves the installation of fish cleaning stations on the pier and the planting of beach and dune vegetation. The planting is expected to take place in the fall “when it is optimal for planting,” he said.
The county recently acquired a saltwater license for the pier, “so you do not need a saltwater license to fish on the pier,” said planning and land use director Olivia Hall.
Phase 2, which includes the construction of the parking lot and comfort station, is about 20% complete. Work is expected to be completed in November, in time for….
