
Saturday, May 9, saw more activity than usual on Carter Creek as the Tides Inn in Irvington hosted the Tidewater Cup Regatta for the Cocktail Class Wooden Boat Racing Association. Above, racers clear the final buoy before a sprint to the finish line. The races returned to the Northern Neck after a six-year absence. Eight racers competed in a series of heats driving their eight-foot plywood boats powered by small outboard motors. During the races, a seaplane also made an appearance.
