HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland County Circuit Court convened Tuesday, July 2, with the Hon. R. Michael McKenney presiding.

The case of Willis A. Veney of Farnham, charged with two felonies including one count for manufacturing a controlled substance and one count for perjury, was continued to August 6.

Bond was denied in the case of Christian P. Lyons of Urbanna, charged with two misdemeanors for violating his probation. Lyons’ trial is scheduled for July 30.

Brittany Balderson of Lottsburg pleaded guilty to three misdemeanors including two counts for perjury and one count for welfare fraud, and was sentenced to repay the government for the social services money she unlawfully received.

The trial of Jermaine M. Ball of Heathsville, charged with one felony for manufacturing a controlled substance, was continued to October 1.

Christian D. Birckett of Callao pleaded guilty to two felonies for the sale of marijuana and was sentenced to serve one month in jail.
