Northumberland transfers cable franchise

HEATHSVILLE—Northumberland supervisors on October 12 adopted a resolution transferring the county’s cable television franchise from Metrocast to Atlantic Broadband.

District 1 supervisor Joseph Self moved to adopt the resolution, District 3 supervisor James Long seconded the motion and the resolution was adopted, 5-0.

Metrocast recently was purchased by Atlantic Broadband, a subsidiary of Cogeco Communications, the 9th largest cable operator in the U.S.

Francis Bradley of Atlantic Broadband addressed the board Thursday.
