GLOUCESTER—Richard David Hall, 78, of Gloucester passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.

David was born October 11, 1939, in King & Queen County to Winfrey J. and Dorothy Clements Hall. He moved to Gloucester at a young age and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1959.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, he went to work at the Newport News Shipyard and Drydock Company from which he retired after 39 years as an electrical planner.

David’s greatest love was spending time with his family and he cherished family vacations at their home in Nags Head. Next to his love of family, was his love of hunting, fishing and spending time watching sports, especially those involving his grandchildren. His devotion to hunting was clearly shown by the 59 years he spent with the Harcum Hunt Club.

David will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Peggy C. Hall.

David is survived by his wife of 22 years, Patsy Lankford Hall; daughter, JoElle Harvey (Mark), son, R. Keith Barrack (Carrie); and six grandchildren, Ashley Rudisill (Tyler), Jordan Harvey, Lauren Harvey, Zachary Barrack, Brayden Barrack and Reid Barrack.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 17, at Bellamy United Methodist Church, 4870 Chestnut Fork Road, Gloucester. Visitation for family and friends was held before the service at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 1417, Gloucester VA 23061.

Andrews Funeral Home of Gloucester handled the arrangements.
