‘The Longest Day’ observation set

Every year communities across the nation bring attention to the issue of dementia by holding events for “The Longest Day.”

This is a time set aside during the summer solstice to raise awareness and support for the work of the Alzheimer’s Association, reported Visiting Angels Northern Neck & Middle Peninsula director Frank J. McCarthy. There are more than five million Americans living with Alzheimer’s or some other form of dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association addresses this global crisis by providing education and support to those who face dementia every day. Their work is critical to research towards treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure.
