KILMARNOCK—Carol Ann Speidell, 88, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of quiet grace, natural beauty and enduring love.
Born on May 28, 1938, in Jackson, Mississippi, Carol Ann’s life took root in the South before finding its truest home along the shores of the Chesapeake Bay—where she spent the last three decades living and breathing the rhythms of the water, the wind, and the wildlife that she cherished so deeply.
Carol Ann had a gift for finding beauty in the everyday world around her. Whether it was the flash of a warbler through the reeds, the careful unfolding of a morning bloom, or the silver light of the bay at dawn, she saw the world with eyes full of wonder. Her gardens were a reflection of her spirit—tended with patience and love, always alive with color and life.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, her two beloved children, and two grandchildren who were the joy of her later years.
She will be remembered not for what she accumulated, but for what she noticed—the small, beautiful things most of us pass by without a second glance.
A memorial service for Carol Ann will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 26, at Currie Funeral Home in Kilmarnock.
“In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.”—Aristotle
