KILMARNOCK—Recent rainfalls totaling some four inches somewhat eased drought conditions, but it was not without some headaches including power outages and downed trees.
As storms swept through Lancaster and Northumberland counties on the evening of Tuesday, July 21, and into the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 22, Dominion Energy’s Craig Carper said about 1,350 customers in the Northern Neck were without power beginning at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. “All but 50 were restored by noon and the rest were restored by 4 p.m.”
Northern Neck Electric Cooperative reported 20 members were without power “for less than and hour and 15 minutes due to a tree outside of the right-of-way,” said manager of public relations Jim Robertson.
