Polar Plunge raises a record $21,000

Plungers race into Indian Creek’s 40-degree water, raising funds to send 41 children to Camp Kekoka.

KILMARNOCK—Forty-five people and two dogs plunged into chilly Indian Creek last Saturday at the ninth annual Camp Kekoka Polar Bear Plunge to raise funds for future campers at Camp Kekoka.

The plungers shouted “Freezin for a Reason” before diving into the creek. Camp director Cassie Liechty reminded everyone that heads had to go under water to make the plunge official. Unlike past years, they were greeted with sunny 50-degree weather after taking the plunge into the 40-degree water.

Two canines, Ty and Mud, also took the plunge, raising $260…
