Teens and Native Plant Society members clean up library garden

KILMARNOCK—Teens from the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) and members of the Northern Neck Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society (NNNPS) recently cleaned the gardens at the Lancaster Community Library, 16 Town Centre Drive, Kilmarnock.

“Shortly before the new library opened in 2016, NNNPS got involved with designing and installing a native plant garden on either side of the main entrance as part of our Go Native, Grow Native campaign,” said Jeff Wainscott, a board member of both the BGCNN and NNNPS.

“Through this campaign we seek to inspire Northern Neck residents and businesses to use native plants in their gardens and protect native vegetation in the landscape,” he said.

The installation was partially funded by a grant from the Northern Neck Garden Club and from NNNPS, said treasurer Paula Bundy. It is Demo Garden #10 of the Northern Neck Native Plant Trail…
