RICHMOND—The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) have joined forces to improve officer safety and efficiency.
Effective May 29, the DGIF began providing full law enforcement dispatch services to DCR’s 100 fully sworn park rangers serving 37 Virginia State Parks. Dispatch also supports 63 Virginia Natural Area Preserves.
DGIF currently provides these services to its nearly 200 fully sworn conservation police officers and other agency employees stationed across the Commonwealth.
In 2017, the DGIF communications center handled nearly 45,000 calls for service for Virginia’s conservation police.
