The Robert O. Norris Jr. Memorial Bridge which stretches over the Rappahannock River to connect Lancaster and Middlesex counties is projected to be replaced in 18 years, according to a preliminary report by the Virginia Department of Transportation presented last month to the Commonwealth Transportation Board.
The report, which is on the VITAL (Very Large, Indispensable, Transportation Asset List) infrastructure in the Commonwealth, is a statewide assessment of the overall condition and funding needs of large bridges and tunnel structures in Virginia.
