Performed at presidential inaugurations by Aretha Franklin and Kelly Clarkson, recited by Martin Luther King in his “I Have a Dream” speech and sung by grade school classes throughout the nation, “My Country tis of Thee,” also known as “America,” is one of the country’s most beloved patriotic hymns.
The Northern Neck Orchestra, conducted by music director Michael Repper, will honor this enduring ode to the country, showcase other works by American composers and perform a Haydn symphony at its March concerts.
The orchestra will be joined by the Chesapeake Chorale, Cheryl Brown Davis, artistic director.
