Sharon honors 1969 baseball state champions

Scholarship day was held at Sharon Baptist Church on Sunday, June 23, during the morning worship service.

The theme was “Our Children, Our Future” and the Biblical text was from Proverbs 16:3, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed,” reported trustee Sandra Smyre.

Trustee Geraldine Avery served as worship leader, the Litany was led by Cheryl Rice and the prayer was delivered by deacon Lloyd Hill.

Rev. Dale S. Bunns, pastor, gave the invocation. The youth choir rendered the music and deaconess Faith Waddy presented a musical tribute, “If My People.”

Awards and accolades were presented to the students for their accomplishments for the 2018-2019 school term by Hill and Smyre. A “love tunnel” was formed by parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, directed by deaconess Mary Caster.

The highlight of the service was the recognition of the Brookvale High School 1969 baseball state champions…
