Mayor Ransone says he won’t seek another term |
IRVINGTON—Following discussion October 10, it was determined that a committee would be established by Irvington businesses, with the cooperation of town staff, to explore matching grant opportunities with the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VATC) and possibly complete an application.
Lee Capps, who was instrumental in the development of tourism grants for Kilmarnock and Warsaw, pledged to help with the process and present something to the council by the November meeting and, if all agree to pursue the grant opportunity at that point, a grant application would be completed by the December deadline.
Last Thursday, Dudley Patteson of the Hope and Glory Inn and Stuart Barwise, general manager of the Tides Inn, presented an opportunity to apply for a matching grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VATC) to encourage more visitors to the town.
Patteson stressed “This is not a Hope and Glory or Dog and Oyster or Tides Inn request” but a “request that benefits everyone.”
