Lancaster school board member acknowledges efforts of former chairman

KILMARNOCK—Using her time during board member comments at the January 14 Lancaster school board meeting, vice chairman Kenya Moody indicated she wanted to address former District 3 member and board chairman Audrey Thomasson and “clear her name.”

Moody said she wanted to say this at December’s board meeting, which was Thomasson’s last after not seeking re-election, but was unable to attend due to a family issue.

Moody wanted to make sure that everyone understood that unlike others who have family ties to the school system, Thomasson was dedicated despite “not having any children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews that attend our schools.” But it was Moody’s comments made at the January 2019 board meeting and Thomasson’s decision to “take the heat,” that she really wanted to address…
