KILMARNOCK—By a unanimous 5-0 vote, the town council on Friday, April 10, declared a state of emergency for the Town of Kilmarnock due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis.
In an effort to enforce social distancing in the town, council also voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance allowing public entities created by the council to meet electronically instead of in person.
These changes to town policy are in compliance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines on the COVID-19 crisis and Virginia’s current stay-at-home order, which advises citizens not to congregate in groups of 10 or more.
