Man dies following work zone accident

WEEMS—At 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, Virginia State Police (VSP) responded to a crash involving a pedestrian in the 1700 block of Weems Road.   

The northbound lane of Weems Road was blocked for a highway project. Michael H. Paynter, 58, of Blackstone was standing in the work zone when he was struck by a 2007 International….
