Oliver M. Knight Jr.

Oliver M. Knight Jr.

KILMARNOCK—Oliver Mills Knight Jr., 91, passed away peacefully April 12, 2021, in Kilmarnock.

Born in Pennsylvania, Ollie was a 36-year resident of Lottsburg. Moving to the Northern Neck in the 80s from York, Pa., with wife Eleanor, he traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Canada as a salesman/engineer in the tire, transportation, and trucking industries as he had for some time.

Successful in his career, his leisure time went from being a longtime supporter of Penn State to sailing and fishing the waters of the Potomac River, Chesapeake Bay, and occasional forays off the Delaware, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina coasts. He was very involved with the Coast Guard Auxiliary after retirement.

Always active, he enjoyed getting things done. Completing projects or reaching goals, enjoying himself with others was always a consideration. The sooner he got to work, the sooner he got to play.

Ollie was preceded in death by wife, Ellie; a sister; and his parents. He leaves behind son, Greg; sister, Gayle; and brother, Byron; and their families.

The family would like to thank neighbors and business associates everywhere for their friendship for so many years. Also, thanks go out to those who helped during Ollie’s brief illness at VCU Health in Tappahannock, The Orchard in Warsaw and Commonwealth Senior Living in Kilmarnock.

A viewing, Mass and burial were private/family only in Kilmarnock on April 20. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be sent in Ollie’s name to USCG Auxiliary, Flotilla 3-10, 237 St. James Lane, Montross, VA 22520.

Currie Funeral Home LLC of Kilmarnock handled the arrangements.
