Stirring the waters: Northumberland OKs one ‘No Wake’ zone, tables another

HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland board of supervisors on May 13 held its first public hearings regarding “No Wake” zone requests, both on Indian Creek, since updating the ordinance.

Jeffrey Hunt requested a No Wake buoy marker in the area of Henry’s Creek and Barnes Creek off of Indian Creek.

Hunt said the request was “due to safety concerns we see almost ever day.”

Although there is some confusion in the name of the body of water, Hunt said his application—on behalf of the 10 other property owners—refers to the “narrow body of water behind Crank Island” that connects Henry’s Creek to Barnes Creek.

He said the shoreline is being undercut….
