Northumberland board accepts $1.1 million in federal funding, approves two conditional use permits, hammers away on other issues

HEATHSVILLEWhen the Northumberland Board of Supervisors met August 12, it had a full agenda.

After a public hearing with no comment, the board approved a fiscal year 2022 budget amendment of $1,174,656 in federal funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, 5-0. Supervisors James Brann of District 1, Richard Haynie of District 2, James Long of District 3, Thomas Tomlin of District 4, and Ronald Jett of District 5 all voted in favor.

Funds will be used for direct costs associated with the county’s COVID-19 response. This represents half of the funds; the other half will come next year….
