Community prays for Dan Russell’s recovery

Educators, students and friends gathered Friday evening in Town Centre Park to pray for Lancaster school superintendent Dan Russell and his family. Russell recently suffered a stroke and continues to recuperate. Rev. John C. Seltzer, pastor of Corrottoman Baptist Church, and other local clergy led the vigil. “Love is the pulse of this community,” said Rev. Seltzer as he issued a call for healing, understanding and strength. The Fix Ministry offered songs of praise. Showing their support, the Kilmarnock Volunteer Fire Department, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department and White Stone Volunteer Fire Department sent trucks and crew.   The Lancaster High School varsity baseball team came in uniform. Although the vigil was organized by school board member Faith Kemp, it was not a school function. Photo by Robert Mason Jr.
