Natalie A. Sorukas

Natalie A. Sorukas

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today our world got smaller. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend, Natalie A. Sorukas of New Orleans, La. Natalie passed away at her home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 59.

Natalie was born in South Bend, Ind., to John Pittenger and Rana (Pittenger) Snider. She graduated from Lasalle High School in South Bend, then studied to become a licensed cosmetologist and worked in this field for the remainder of her life.

She was a devoted Navy wife as the family moved frequently to several duty stations in the United States and around the world. For a time, she and her husband, Robert Sorukas, lived in Lancaster.

She enjoyed the beach, traveling and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren who called her “Mimi”. Her easygoing, friendly personality and huge heart made her a joy to be around.

Natalie was preceded in death by her mom, Rana Snider; stepfather, Robert Snider; and her grandparents, Richard and Helen Smith.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert Sorukas; brother, Nick (wife Amber) Snider; daughter, Sarah (husband Charlie) Bronder; son, Chad Sorukas; grandchildren, Ryder and Piper Hathaway and Stella Bronder; mother- and father-in-law, Diana and Bill Sorukas; aunt, Toby Rogers; niece, Julie Rogers; and her uncle, Gary Smith.

The days to come will be difficult, the hole left in this family will be here as long as we are.
