Lancaster’s Walker and Chapman named to All-State baseball team

The Class 1 All-State baseball team was announced last week and included four Northern Neck District players on the first team.

Virginia High School League’s director of communications Mike McCall released the first and second team members Tuesday, June 21. Fourteen players are selected to both the first and second teams, including three pitchers on each. Only those players selected to first-team all region are eligible.

Grayson County senior Andrew Shaffner was named the Class 1 player of the year and Rappahannock’s James Bieger, who led the Raiders to the state championship, was named the coach of the year. The Raiders went 20-4 this season with a ninth inning, walk-off 1-0 win over Rappahannock County in the championship. Shaffner also filled a first-team spot as an at-large player.
