Lancaster track teams win district championships

Lancaster High School track teams ran away with both the girls and boys championships at the Northern Neck District meet May 17. Deja Brown claimed one of the two most valuable athlete trophies.

Brown scored 28 of Lancaster’s 139 team points. She was the fastest hurdler, winning the 100-meter hurdles with a state-qualifying time of 17.82. She also placed third in the 300 hurdles, 54.21. She cleared 4’10”—a state qualifying jump— to win the high jump and cleared 6’6” as runner-up in the pole vault.

She and teammate Josie Spencer both recorded state qualifying heights in the pole vault. Spencer won the event at 7’0”.

Brown also scored two points by running a leg of Lancaster’s winning 4X100 meter relay….
