HEATHSVILLE—The Northumberland school board and board of supervisors on Thursday, November 30, discussed planning and overall development of the fiscal year 2024-25 school budget.
School superintendent Holly Wargo presented themes and goals she and the school board determined they will focus on when creating their budget.
According to Wargo, the primary goal is to facilitate educational excellence so students not only meet but exceed state baselines and expectations.
Second, student health and wellness, both physical as well as social and emotional, are large determinators of where they wish to see funds allocated.
Student ownership of learning, a qualified and diversified workforce and mutually supportive partnerships among the community are other areas of focus for crafting the budget, Wargo said.
According to Wargo, major items that impact the budget beyond salaries and health insurance include various educational programs and functions.
While there was no mention of any proposed totals….
