
All young basketball players dream of meeting their idols. Well, Amar’e Starks did just that a few weeks ago when he got a meet-and-greet with Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry.
Amar’e, a 12-year-old seventh grader at Northumberland Middle School, got the best of Christmas presents—tickets to a Warriors at Charlotte Hornets NBA game in North Carolina on March 29 that ended up including a friends and family event post-game.
Curry returned home to score 23 points to lead the Warriors in a 115-97 win.
“My friend is actually engaged to Steph Curry’s first cousin,” said Amar’e’s dad, Tony Starks. “Steph was born in Ohio but has a family base in North Carolina.”
