Northumberland school board hears curriculum proposals for 2024-25

HEATHSVILLE—With the 2023-24 school year coming to a close for Northumberland County Public Schools, planning for the upcoming year was the primary discussion topic at the Monday, April 15, board meeting.

High school principal Travis Burns discussed several recommended additions to the school’s program of studies along with suggestions of courses that should be cut from the program.

Courses recommended to be added include applied biology/chemistry, expanding literacies through world cultures and human geography and dual enrollment pre-calculus I and pre-calculus II.

Courses recommended for removal include honors mathematical analysis/pre-AP calculus, pre-calculus, advanced placement calculus, applied calculus/statistics and advanced placement statistics.
