Polling places will be open Tuesday for Dual Primary Elections

RICHMOND—Voting in Virginia’s statewide Dual Primary Elections will conclude Tuesday, June 18. Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m., according to the Virginia Department of Elections.

For the Dual Primary, voters must indicate which party’s ballot they wish, Republican or Democrat. Voters may pick only one ballot. Voters also are reminded to bring their identification.

In-person early voting has been underway since May 3. The final day to vote early in-person at a voter registration office is Saturday, June 15.

In Lancaster, voters may cast an early in-person ballot at the voter registration office in the County Administration Building, 8311 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, as well as Saturday, June 15.

In Northumberland, voters may cast an early in-person ballot at the voter registration and elections office at the James R. Hundley, DMV, Memorial Building, 45 Back Street, Heathsville, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays as well as Saturday, June 15.

For registered voters who requested an absentee ballot by mail, the return ballot must be postmarked by June 18; or placed in the drop box at the registrar’s office or voter’s polling place by 7 p.m. June 18. Mailed ballots must be received by the registrar by noon Friday, June 21.

Candidates

Statewide, a Republican Party Primary will be held to nominate a candidate for U.S. Senate in the November 5 election. The winner will face Democratic incumbent Sen. Tim Kaine.

The Republican Primary ballot will include candidates Hung Cao of Purcellville, Edward C. “Eddie” Garcia Jr. of Arlington, Jonathan W. Emord of Williamsburg, C. L. “Chuck” Smith Jr. of Virginia Beach and Scott Thomas Parkinson of Arlington.

In the First District, a Democratic Party Primary will be held to nominate a candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in the November 5 election. The winner will face Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman.

The Democratic Primary ballot will include candidates Leslie C. Mehta of Henrico and Herbert C. Jones Jr. of Providence Forge.

Polling places

In Lancaster, polling places by precinct include:

• District 1, Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department, 5170 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster.

• District 2, Trinity Episcopal Church, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster.

• District 3, Precinct 301, White Stone Volunteer Fire Department, 579 Chesapeake Drive, White Stone.

• District 3, Precinct 302, Kilmarnock Baptist Church/Fellowship Hall, 65 East Church Street, Kilmarnock.

• District 4, Grace Episcopal Church/Grace Hall, 303 South Main Street, Kilmarnock.

• District 5, Irvington Baptist Church, 53 King Carter Drive, Irvington.

In Northumberland, polling places by precinct include:

• District 1, Callao Volunteer Fire Department, 314 Northumberland Highway, Callao.

• District 2, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 6807 Northumberland Highway, Heathsville.

• District 3, Fairfields United Methodist Church, 14741 Northumberland Highway, Burgess.

• District 4, Wicomico Parish Church, 5191 Jessie duPont Memorial Highway, Wicomico Church.

• District 5, Fairfields Volunteer Fire Department, 119 Main Street, Reedville.

Local filing

Tuesday also is the filing deadline to get on the November 5 ballot for town elections.

In Irvington, elections will be held for mayor and three full-term council seats, as well as a special election for a two-year term on council.

In White Stone, elections will be held for four town council seats.

In Kilmarnock, elections will be held for three town council seats.
