Team Flying Knee Bar wins Captain’s Classic

The second Captain’s Classic disc golf tournament at Deadrise Disc Golf Course near Irvington ended in a thrilling three-way tie with a two-hole playoff to determine the winners.

Some 60 players participated in the second Captain’s Classic at Deadrise Disc Golf Course. They gathered for instructions before teeing off.

Some 60 players on 30 teams played in the tournament June 8, according to club director Davey Nichols.

Randy Castaneda and Stephen Mehalek as team Flying Knee Bar won first place. Joshua Stephens and Timothy Clements II, playing as Jay & Silent Bob, placed second. Third place went to Jimbo Hamilton and Justin Burke as team Good Headwind.

Clements also won the putting contest.

Initially, there was a three-way tie for first. A tie-breaker would have been decided based on how the teams scored on the three hardest holes—numbers 6, 12 and 13, according to Nichols. They tied on each of those, so….
