Hunt Chesapeake History Forum on October 12 to explore Virginia blues

The John H. Hunt II Chesapeake History Forum will return October 12 to Historic Christ Church & Museum, 420 Christ Church Road, Weems, with “East Virginia Blues: The Bay and Beyond.” The program will begin at 4 p.m.

In a multimedia presentation that includes photographs, period recordings and live performance, guitarist Dr. Gregg Kimball, vocalist Sheryl Warner and harmonica player Rick Manson will trace the history of the blues tradition in the Chesapeake, reported executive director Robert Teagle.

According to Dr. Kimball, who is a historian of Virginia roots music, some of the best-known blues musicians of the 20th century called Virginia and the Chesapeake watershed home. Regional artists performed in a variety….
