This eagle was released at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Belle Isle State Park. A large crowd was gathered at the park. Wildlife Center of Virginia staff gave a brief presentation on the Center’s life-saving work and details about this specific eagle. Then they opened the crate and released the eagle back to the wild. LANCASTER—After two months of treatment and care, Bald Eagle #25-1783 was returned to the wild on Sunday, July 20.
This adult eagle was admitted to the Wildlife Center of Virginia on May 26 after he was hit by a vehicle in Middlesex County, according to a Wildlife Center of Virginia press release. On admission, a veterinary team found the eagle had a fractured coracoid, a critical bone in a bird’s shoulder that supports flight.
