Lecture slated August 23 on the ‘Life of Young George Washington’

The Mary Ball Washington Museum & Library (MBWML) will host a public lecture August 23 by archaeologist Laura J. Galke of The George Washington Foundation in Fredericksburg.

The program will be held at Rappahannock Westminster-Canterbury, 132 Lancaster Drive, Irvington. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 7 p.m.

In her slide talk, “Archaeological Insights on the Life of Young George Washington,” Galke will discuss how newly-unearthed artifacts and historical documents have been guiding the building and furnishing of the reconstructed Washington house at Ferry Farm.

A $10 donation is suggested at the door to benefit MBWML and reservations are recommended to ensure seating; call 462-7280 or email history@mbwm.org.
