LANCASTER—The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) recently launched The Lancaster County Keepsafe Program as an independent organization dedicated to enhancing the safety, well being and quality of life for senior citizens throughout Lancaster County.

For many years, the Keepsafe Program has been an integral service of the LCSO, providing daily telephone check-ins to senior citizens enrolled in the program. When a participant cannot be reached by phone, law enforcement is dispatched for a welfare check, ensuring peace of mind for families and the community.
Now officially established, The Lancaster County Keepsafe Program is expanding its services to meet the evolving needs of the senior community. The expanded program aims to combat social isolation, promote mental and emotional wellness and build community connections through initiatives such as volunteer visit teams, wellness workshops, social events and partnership programs with other agencies and organizations.
“Our seniors are valuable members of our community,” said secretary Miranda Clark. “As an independent non-profit, we now have the opportunity to broaden our reach and deepen our impact, offering not just safety checks but companionship, connection, and support that truly enhances quality of life.”
