Bald eagle released at Belle Isle State Park

LANCASTER—After five months of intensive medical care and rehabilitation, the Wildlife Center of Virginia (WCV) released a recovered bald eagle back to the wild at Belle Isle State Park on Wednesday, April 15.

The adult bald eagle, patient #25-4133, was admitted to the Wildlife Center on November 18, 2025, after being found injured in Middlesex County following an apparent territorial fight with another eagle, reported director of outreach Connor Gillespie. Upon admission, the veterinary team diagnosed significant head trauma, including multiple puncture wounds to the head and neck.
