‘A dinosaur’ retires; one of the area’s last independent parts shop to change hands

Harvey Hinton sits in his office behind the same desk he’s used for nearly four decades at his namesake business, Harvey’s Auto Parts, in Claraville.

He’s reflecting on his time at the store coming to a close since announcing that on Thursday, September 10, the store would be changing hands, with a new owner, Kevin Jones, coming on board, and a new NAPA branded line on the shelves.

For all of those big changes, some things will remain the same. In a letter Hinton sent to customers announcing the change, he encouraged his customers “to support the new family-owned NAPA store as you have supported me over the years. There will be familiar faces…
