Anonymous donor seeks matching funds for Boys & Girls Club playground

A sample playground suitable for ages 6-12.

As anyone driving by the Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck site at 517 North Main Street in Kilmarnock can see, construction on the new clubhouse is humming along.

“We are in great shape and on schedule to complete the building by November 1,” said board member Ed Fuehrer, who has been working alongside architect Randall Kipp and builder Joe Hyman for over a year. “This week, all interior partitioning is up and we are completing dry wall. Siding is in place and the drum-like entry feature is nearing completion. Ideally, before we open, we would like to be able to add a playground for our younger members, which has been a dream—but sadly not included in our budget.”

“Seeing the need for club children to have this fun and healthy outdoor activity, an anonymous donor is inviting us to double-match a $10,000 grant,” said development director Susan Cookman. “We have identified a manufacturer known for beautiful, creative products used in schools and parks nationwide, and think we can achieve this dream with donations from just a few generous friends.”
