Anthropologist will explore Powhatan Indian religious life

Anthropologist Margaret Williamson Huber will present “Religion of the Powhatan Indians of Virginia” at 2 p.m. May 16 at Historic Christ Church & Museum (HCC&M).

Huber’s talk is the second in HCC&M’s four-part 2021 Sunday Speaker Series “A Variety of Religious Experiences: Natives, Africans and Europeans in Early Virginia,” reported HCC&M executive director Robert Teagle.

Huber will explore the religious ideas and practices of the Powhatan Indians, both those of lay people and the shamans….
