Drifters douse LHS for district title

Northern Neck District boys basketball tournament champion Colonial Beach (CBHS) headed the list of all-district selections. The honor squad was named following the Drifters’ 40-37 win over Lancaster (LHS) in last weekend’s final.

The Drifters’ senior guard, Corvion Davis, who averaged 24.5 points per game this season, was named the district player of the year and the Drifters’ Keith Dickerson was chosen the coach of the year.

Lancaster (LHS) slowed its usual up-tempo offense and Colonial Beach (CB) capitalized, taking a late game lead in a 40-37 win over the Red Devils for the Northern Neck District tournament championship.

Jace Jett hit a three-pointer in the final seconds to help lift the Drifters over Lancaster.

Both teams went 9-1 during the regular season but CB enters this week’s Region 1A tournament as the higher seed. Lancaster enjoyed a home quarterfinal win over Washington & Lee, 67-58, but will travel the remainder of the tournament.
