Boys & Girls Club honors four outstanding members

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Neck (BGCNN) recently recognized William “LJ” Ball, Kenneth Dobyns, Chermera Walker and Annabeth Lane.

Ball, 14, an eighth grader at LHS, is the Lancaster Teen of the Month, reported Tara Gill. Ball has been involved since the beginning of this year. He is active in Keystone Leadership Club, Teen Chef, Passport to Manhood and volunteers with the youth in the club when needed.

“William shows great leadership around the club, especially to younger members,” said teen program director Bridell Carter. “He is always willing to help the younger members with homework and loves playing with them in the gym.”

In school, Ball is on the soccer, football and track teams.

“My goal after high school is to travel outside of Lancaster County,” said Ball. “Being selected as Teen of the Month means a lot to me. It shows me that I have a positive influence on the youth side.”

Dobyns, 9, is the Northumberland Club Youth of the Month, said Gill. He attends Northumberland Elementary School. While at the club in Burgess, he participates in….
