Bright Beginnings program serves every student in Lancaster County Public Schools

To serve all 1,122 students in the Lancaster County Public School system, from preschool to 12th grade, it takes a community of volunteers, organizations, churches and money.

That is what happened in Lancaster County, according to Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA regional development director Mark Favazza.

The Northern Neck Family YMCA’s Bright Beginnings program, providing school supplies to every student, is one indication that Lancaster County is a benevolent community, said Favazza. Lancaster residents have again proven to be responsible and caring in the face of a challenge, even amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
