The holiday program at Chesapeake Academy is an annual gathering of students, parents, grandparents, alumni and community friends that celebrates this joyful season with songs, skits and readings.
Held on the last day of school before the Christmas holiday begins, the event is performed as a gift to the community by the student body and is always a much-loved part of the holidays in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, said head of school Julianne T. Duvall. Due to health restrictions associated with the COVID pandemic, the gift was given virtually this year—but it was a gift all the same.
Lorry Manetz, Namiyah Andrews and Robert Cunningham read “A Visit from St. Nicholas” by Clement Moore, setting the seasonal tone and providing the perfect segue for the pre-kindergarten “Reindeer Hokey Pokey,” which featured dancing reindeer with fluffy white tails. Next up, Finley Burke and Emory Simmons read “That Is Christmas” (author unknown) to launch…
