Chesapeake announces new scholarship

Chesapeake Academy recently announced an additional resource for tuition relief available for the upcoming school year.

“The H. Hiter Harris Jr. Merit Scholarship is designed for a rising fourth-, fifth- or sixth-grade student for the 2018-19 school year and would provide 50% of the year’s tuition,” said admission director Hilary Scott. “This opportunity is open to any student not currently enrolled at Chesapeake Academy who, without tuition assistance, may not be able to consider application.

“We are delighted to expand our ability to share Chesapeake Academy’s strong program more broadly in the region,” she said.

“Scholarship candidates with a strong indication of positive character will be considered based on previous academic achievement, performance on admission test and a writing sample.  All applicants will have a personal interview. Two recommendations from math and language teachers are required,” said head of school Julianne Duvall Keesee. “The scholarship is renewable annually.”

All applications are due by March 1. Admissions application fees are waived for scholarship applicants. For an application, email, or call 438-5575.
