Chessie helps bank kick off 125th anniversary

Jill Herman grabbed a photo with Chessie, the Chesapeake Bank mascot, in front of a large photo of the financial institution’s floating bank. The “Boat ‘N Bank” was launched in 1968 to serve workers at the Irvington oyster packing plant. The boat also appeared on the cake at the reception following the annual shareholders meeting. The reception launched a yearlong celebration of the bank’s 125th anniversary. The bank, founded on April 13, 1900, will celebrate its monumental anniversary throughout the year. A Northern Neck Community Appreciation Event is scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 8 at the Irvington Commons, 156 King Carter Drive, Irvington. Photo by Lisa Hinton-Valdrighi
