While Mid-County Volunteer Rescue Squad’s (MCVRS) primary mission is to provide emergency services in Northumberland County, for the past two years, MCVRS and their Cooks Squad also provided community outreach services using meals and baked goods as fundraising tools. The funds generated are used for the purchase of supplies and equipment necessary for the daily functions of the rescue squad.
Last year, the Cooks Squad held five successful food-related fundraising events, including a bake sale at the Heathsville Farmers Market, Heart Healthy Mediterranean mixed grill and a Thanksgiving meal. They also provide baked goods and refreshments for various MCVRS in-house events. Continuing in that effort, the MCVRS Cooks Squad, will prepare an Easter meal to seniors.
