Trinity Episcopal Church has named Danny Akers the 2026 Unsung Hero in recognition of his outstanding commitment to serving others and strengthening the community.
Akers exemplifies what it means to be an unsung hero, reported Nan Alga. His dedication to the Upper Lancaster Volunteer Fire Department as chief for the past 15 years extends well beyond responding to emergencies. Through his commitment to firefighter training, fundraising and collaboration with neighboring fire departments, he helps to build a stronger, better-prepared and more effective volunteer fire service.
The Unsung Hero Award recognizes that strong communities are built by individuals who quietly give of themselves, often without expecting recognition or thanks, said Alga. While many individuals are deserving of this honor, Akers’ dedication and service represent the very best of what this award seeks to celebrate.
The community is invited to join in honoring Akers at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, December 6, at Trinity Episcopal Church Pavilion, 8484 Mary Ball Road, Lancaster…..
